PFARS Operations
Overview

The primary function of PFARS is to provide fast, high-quality emergency care to those in need. In addition to BLS ambulance care, the Squad also provides technical rescue services and a variety of special operations services on request. Squad operations is broken into three components: EMS Operations, Rescue Operations, and Special Operations. Please see below for a detailed description each category.

EMS Operations Rescue Operations Special Operations
EMS operations covers all "every day" emergency ambulance calls for service, and represents both the primary activity of the Squad, and the busiest aspect of it. Rescue operations covers all forms of technical rescue, including automobile extrication, confined space, high angle and low angle rope rescue, water and ice rescue, and fireground support. In addition, rescue operations may also be called upon to assist in other large scale mass casulty incidents, search and rescue evolutions, and scene lighting. Special operations covers the Squad's operations at events or other standby requests. The Squad provides standby services for a variety of activities including sporting events, concerts, community parades and social events, fireworks displays, Princeton University reunions, and other activities for which we may be requested from time to time. Special operations will generally be a combination of resources from both EMS and Rescue operations, and may include additional personnel on the Squad's bike team.
